Safety Takes Grit

Creating a true culture of safety takes hard work and commitment. It takes grit. It doesn’t matter if the work is happening inside the office, shop, yard, road, or inside a customer’s gate, all Barnhart employees must work hard to create a constant and consistent focus on safety.  Each employee from office managers, engineers, branch managers, sales, PMs, riggers to operators are all responsible to make sure that focus is maintained.

Most important, we all need to look out for one another.

A constant focus on safety impacts our personal behavior and how we view the world around us. It should cause us all of us to think through the wide variety of circumstances we face all day. Not only on the job, but also on personal time. A gritty focus on safety impacts and changes our behavior. It requires all employees to be aware of and manage risks. Safety impacts all areas of operations. From project planning, project management, and execution of work down to toolbox talks, job hazard analysis, and even post work reviews.

We are all responsible. There are no sidelines in safety. We are all in the game.

At Barnhart the idea of being “One Team” is critical to everything we do. We need to look after one another and speak up when we see an unsafe situation. See Something. Say Something. Creating a true culture of safety doesn’t just happen.  It takes commitment and determination from each team member.  It takes everyone at Barnhart.

It takes grit.
